As an industry trailblazer, Hilary is in the top 5 percent of advisors in her firm, has grown her practice primarily through introductions from current clients, and is grateful for the excellent client retention. In addition to many community and firm recognition awards, Hilary was awarded the prestigious Impact Award by BB&T Scott & Stringfellow that recognizes the exceptional impact she has made, one with lasting qualities, for difference-making contributions to the firm, clients and the community. Hilary launched her career in the computer industry with Burroughs Corporation, and later with Wang Laboratories. She was the area sales manager of a seven-state region for Wang Laboratories, responsible for managing $50 million in corporate revenues, a $10 million budget and more than 70 employees. Hilary joined BB&T Scott & Stringfellow in 1997, and quickly became one of the firm's top financial advisors. Hilary and her husband, Daryl, have been married for more than 30 years, and raised two daughters, Laura and Amy. Their family grew when Laura and Ross married; their granddaughter, Emma, was born; and Amy adopted a puppy, Paige. Hilary loves the outdoors, trail riding with her horse, Smoke, and spending time at their home, Black Diamond Farm, with her horses. Their farm was named after Hilary's maiden name, Black. Black Diamond means a place that "inspires creativity, ingenuity, faith, endurance and abundance in all areas of life." *BB&T Scott & Stringfellow is a division of BB&T Securities, LLC, member FINRA/SIPC.
