Helen N. Wai, Consultant Since 2001, Ms. Wai has been assisting communities and organizations in the areas of financial literacy, homebuyer education, foreclosure prevention, lease cancellation and case management with a strong focus on Hawaiian communities for the past 12 years. Ms. Wai certifications are: Homeownership Counseling, Homeownership Education and Foreclosure Intervention Counseling and certified by the Homeownership and Education Counseling NeighborWorks Center for Homeownership Education and Counseling. In September 2011, Ms. Wais impressive communication skills and reputation of helping people lead her to the doorstep of Hawaii Energy into the field of energy from her association working with the Molokai community. Her strong compassion and desire to help people deal with the huge financial struggles and to help them understand all the energy language in the media not only drives her to learn but exceled her growth. In two years, Ms. Wai has facilitated 165 workshops and served 5,000 people on the islands of Hawaii, Maui, Oahu, Lanai and Molokai under the banner of Hawaii Energy. Her efforts have empowered the people to take control of their energy use and given them the understanding to join the discussion on Hawaiis energy problem. This vast banner has enabled Ms. Wai to partner and educate a plethora of organizations such as non-profits, churches, businesses, to community associations at a variety of venues. Her personal commitment to serve the community needs, regardless of area or apparent logistical challenges, has produced a wide variety of workshop venues from a community tent to a high school cafeteria filled with over 100 individual families hungry the energy information she shares.
