I am a firm believer of strategic management and planning, but am careful not to doggedly pursue "5 year plans" at the expense of the now. My management actions must account for the "now" as well as the "later". We live in a rapidly changing environment that requires the savvy manager to constantly adjust to compensate for change. Due to this, my outlook has taken a more immediate shape. You can (and should) plan for the future, but you must constantly be acting on the "now". I am very aware of what is materializing in the world around me. I see a large part of my management responsibility as determining the effect and sustainability of the newest developments and technology, then capitalizing on the most logical and economically sound ideals; all the while pressing toward future visions in favor of my employer, shareholders, consumers, and environment.
