Hi, my name is Eileen, and Im a learnaholic. Im a full-stack developer and multimedia creator from Toronto who enjoys using emerging technologies to blend the digital with the physical world to create innovative experiences.
I have a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto in Mississauga before pursuing Interactive Media Design at Algonquin College (Ottawa). My interdisciplinary background allows me to see the similarities of seemingly different topics, and I often act as the bridge of communications between teams. While in Ottawa, I developed a passion for web accessibility after working with large enterprise websites. That passion evolved to include digital accessibility, emphasizing the importance of inclusive design for all digital content creation.
I decided to pursue a Master of Digital Media at Ryerson University in 2019, where my research intents were to focus on accessibility education for digital and physical environments. I also started to research the challenges of accessibility in AR/VR technologies, which became the focal point of my masters research project. As a result of COVID-19, I pivoted my project to include how restaurants can use WebAR to add visual interactions to their QR code digital menus while increasing brand loyalty, customer experience and order satisfaction.
Since then, I have been closely following the latest trends in extended reality (XR) and looking forward to how it will shape the world and the metaverse. Im also interested in how technology can be used to create art or add another dimension to existing art forms. So keep in touch if youre curious to see what I work on next!
