Colby started with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management February 2016 after starting with Morgan Stanley in 2004 on the trading floor in New York City. He moved back to Seattle as the head US derivatives trader for Russell Investments before returning to Morgan Stanley in 2009 to join his Father, Jack Hanover in forming The Hanover Group. Colby has a BA in Finance from The University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the University of Washington's Foster School of Business. Colby lives on Mercer Island with his wife, Kristine. Colby enjoys traveling, skiing, golf, basketball, boating, coaching kids and cooking. Colby and his wife had their daughter, Preston, in 2016 and had their son, Witt, in January 2019! Colby is a qualified Portfolio Manager who, in addition to providing traditional advice and guidance, can help clients pursue their objectives by building and managing his own personalized or defined strategies, which may incorporate individual stocks and bonds, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management model portfolios, and third-party investment strategies. When servicing clients through the firm's Investment Advisory Program, a Portfolio Manager may manage his strategies on a discretionary basis. He focuses on clients that experience a liquidity event often through the sale of a business.
